Hot on the heels of an update on the CPA’s Claims Protocol and the RICS Professional Statement, we have further updates from MHCLG on Guidance on the Compulsory Purchase Process. It was published on the 3 October 2024.

The Guidance outlines the procedures and best practices for authorities when using compulsory purchase powers. These powers allow certain public bodies, like local authorities or government departments, to acquire land or property without the owner's consent for projects that serve the public good, such as infrastructure developments or urban regeneration.
