Role Overview
This role sits within the Transport sector. We work with major infrastructure providers including National Highways, Transport for Scotland, Welsh Assembly Government and HS2. We deal with all issues of compulsory purchase and compensation.
You will lead a team working at pace to meet increased client requirements, across a range of Compulsory Purchase casework including litigation cases. You will liaise directly with clients, deliver complex casework, provide technical guidance to clients and support caseworkers within DVS.

Person Specification
We are seeking a visible and influential leader with a proven ability to coach, support, and provide constructive feedback to enhance individual and team performance to join the DVS senior management team. The successful candidate will build trusted and credible relationships with peers, direct reports, and stakeholders, demonstrating strong interpersonal and leadership skills. As Sector Head for Transport the role holder must remain politically astute and well informed with up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, policy developments and market trends to provide trusted advice.
Essential Requirements
- Full RICS or IRRV Surveying Qualification in Valuation pathway.
- A strong understanding of the Transport sector and client requirements.
- Ability to maintain and grow the client base and fee income within the Sector.
- An extensive valuation and legislative knowledge which you proactively keep up-to-date and use to provide trusted advice, analysis and guidance to your team, as well as use for your own complex caseload.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, able to inspire and motivate the team to deliver its objectives and drive continuous improvement.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including high levels of negotiating, consulting and interpersonal skills to achieve co-operation over mutually acceptable solutions.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Work pro-actively to identify risks and issues, proposing solutions ahead of risks becoming issues.
Qualifications
Full RICS or IRRV Surveying Qualification in Valuation pathway.
